Rules and Regulations
ZAB Film Festival

  1. Film must be of the genre – ‘Fiction, Documentary and Animation.

  2. You must be a registered student in order to submit your film/video to festival. You must send a copy of the current Student ID card or proof of student status.

  3. Contest open only to those above 18 yrs of age.

  4. Registration/entry fee Rs 500

  5. Each entry should be accompanied by a letter from the higher authority of the school/college stating that you were a student when the film was made.

  6. The closing date for receipt of entries is March 15th, 2009

  7. The entries should reach the designated address on or before the specified date.

  8. The onus of obtaining a proof-of-delivery for managing disputes rests with the entrant.

  9. The Organizers are not responsible for any loss or damage to films in transit. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, delayed or damaged in the post or courier.

  10. Film must be no more than 20 minutes in length.

  11. Film must not contain any content that would give the film an X-rating or be considered pornographic.

  12. Entries which contain material of an explicit sexual or violent nature, or anything defamatory or likely to incite bigotry or racial prejudice, will be rejected.

  13. The festival organizers reserve the right to disqualify incomplete, altered or illegible entries.

  14. Entries must be original content recorded by the applicant.

  15. The Organizers of the festival do not assume any responsibility for any violation of intellectual property by any entrant.

  16. Any music that you use with your film MUST be originally composed, royalty free or you should have obtained the permission of the owner of the content in writing to use the same.

  17. Material for viewing must be sent to the designated address below for screening on VCD / DVD of good quality.

  18. Preview material should be labeled with title, running-time, screening format, film synopsis and contact information (name, email, address and phone number of applicant).

  19. Entries must include a fully completed, signed, dated registration form and entry fee. If there is more than one creator of the film, then the form must include the details and signatures of every co-creator.

  20. All costs of production of the film (including talent, editing, etc) and all shipping fees will be borne by the entrant.

  21. A jury appointed by SZABIST will select the winners.

  22. Films will be judged on creativity, content and technical aspects of video & audio quality.

  23. The decisions of the jury shall be final and binding.

  24. Organizers reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or Festival scheduling without notice.

  25. Preview material will not be returned. Do not send your master copy until you are notified.

  26. If your film is selected the same will be notified to you by March 31st, 2009 and master copy of the same (in DVD / Hard Disk / DV ) must be sent to the address below no later than April 4th, 2009

  27. All filmmakers will be notified via email / letter only. Hence please ensure that an accurate email id and postal address are indicated. Please provide at least 1 alternate email id to avoid any problems.

  28. If your film is selected, you may be asked to provide: B&W and color still photos from the film, press materials, a trailer, posters and flyers for the festival.

  29. Organizers are permitted to retain viewing material as part of festival library, for publicizing the festival and for educational purposes. No commercial exploitation of the content will be done by SZABIST.
